We weave a web of fantasies
And dream of what could have been.
We envision a life far removed from ours,
Yearning for things not owned, but seen.
Then comes the mindfulness mantra
That preaches to live only here and now
To ignore desires and wishes, albeit unreal
And stop the mind from dreams and desires.
But these wishes and yearnings bring joy
And we smile for just a while,
Visualizing simple harmless situations and things
Forgetting the burden of our lives and duties.
Mindfulness is taking away my dreams
Forcing me to focus on harsh realities
Making me forget my aspirations
And fight within, to face actualities.
